1. Executive Summary
The Youth are Resilient, Interconnected, Socially Cohesive and Engaged (YouthRISE) Activity is a youth empowerment initiative supported by USAID, implemented by Shushilan, and technically supported by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) with media partnership from BBC Media Action.
The objective of this program was to enhance youth capacity through vocational skill development training, specifically focusing on Computer Office Application training. The training program was delivered by Step-Up Skill Development (SSD) Academy, a nationally recognized technical training institute in Bangladesh.
The project was conducted between July 18, 2023 and September 25, 2023, targeting youth participants from two communities in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The program aimed to provide participants with practical digital skills, employability competencies, and entrepreneurship knowledge, helping them become productive members of society.
A total of 72 participants successfully completed the training program across two training centers. The training included 36 structured sessions, practical computer training, theoretical learning, examinations, and certificate distribution.

2. Project Background
The YouthRISE Activity was designed to strengthen youth resilience, promote social engagement, and improve livelihood opportunities through structured skill development training.
Youth in Cox’s Bazar often face limited employment opportunities, lack of vocational training access, and socio-economic challenges. To address these challenges, this project focused on developing technical and digital competencies among youth, particularly through Computer Office Application training.
The training program aimed to equip participants with the skills necessary to operate modern computer applications and utilize digital tools effectively in academic, professional, and entrepreneurial environments.
Through collaborative efforts among international organizations, local implementing partners, and training providers, the project sought to bridge the digital skills gap and empower youth with practical knowledge and employability skills.
3. About Step-Up Skill Development (SSD) Academy
Step-Up Skill Development (SSD) Academy is a modern vocational training institute established in 2023 in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The academy focuses on practical, demand-driven, and employment-oriented technical education.
SSD Academy is affiliated with the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) and follows the National Training and Vocational Qualifications Framework (NTVQF) to ensure standardized and high-quality training delivery.
The institute provides:

Digital skills development
Software and web development training
Freelancing and entrepreneurship training
Digital marketing programs
Technical skill training in multiple trades
SSD Academy aims to build a skilled workforce capable of contributing to Bangladesh’s digital economy and socio-economic development.
